SEND & inclusion

Every child is special, and every child is supported to progress at their own pace.

Our approach

Every child at Sonning Common Pre-School is able to progress at their own rate in all areas of development, whether or not they have a disability or learning difficulty.

The Early Years Foundation Stage covers the education and care of all children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). No child should be disadvantaged because of their ethnicity, culture or religion, home language, family background, learning difficulties or disabilities, gender or ability.

How we help

  • Staff are trained in special educational needs and positive behaviour management, and specialist training is arranged where it’s needed.
  • Your child’s key person plans activities around their individual needs and shares their progress with you.
  • We support children who are learning English as an additional language (EAL) wherever we can.
  • Our purpose-built building has accessible facilities.

Talk to us

If you’d like to discuss how we can meet your child’s individual needs, please speak to our Manager or your child’s key person.

Our policies on identifying, assessing and supporting children with SEND and promoting inclusion, equality and valuing diversity explain our approach in more detail.
